Casino 440 is a phenomenally crowded and crazy looking site that will evoke memories of the web circa late 90s for those old enough to remember the age of Geocities.
Quite what a casino is doing filling its homepage to bursting with gadgets, widgets and buttons in the current year is anyone’s guess, but it’s an approach that Casino 440 appear to have faith in.
Your first thought upon visiting the site will probably be “Where do I start?” and it’s a tough question. Probably by clicking on the red button marked Register on the top right is the correct answer. To get there, all you have to do is ignore all the other buttons, colours and sliders clamouring for your attention. Good luck.
Does Casino 440 need Facebook like and share buttons at the top of its page? Probably not. Does it need a red sticker at the top of the page proclaiming the site to be New!? Probably not. Likewise a Google+ button or an image of, not one, but two headset-wearing operators. It doesn’t need any of this stuff, but you’re going to get it anyway along with a selection of Union Jack flags festooned across the site.
For a site that goes to great lengths to emphasise its Britishness, Casino 440 appears to struggle with English. Players can look forward to ‘advantageous casino bonuses’. ‘Share Casino 440 to make entertainment profitable’ proclaims the site. Quite what any of this means is anyone’s guess.
Most of the text on the homepage appears to have been written for search engines, back when keyword stuffing actually helped your page rank instead of hindering it. The site operates under a license issued by the government of Curacao.
Given the shoddy site design, Casino 440 is best suited to playing on desktop, but it does also have a mobile portal. Enter your mobile number on the site and Casino 440 will text you a direct playing link or you can scan in the QR code. This all seems a little convoluted in an era when mobile responsive websites are the norm.
Whatever device you choose to play on, you can look forward to sampling a selection of casino games that includes video poker, scratch games, baccarat, roulette, slots and blackjack. In all there are more than 250 games to try, a reasonable but not impressive number.
Casino 440 rolls out the usual welcome bonus for new players, in this case comprising a 200% first deposit bonus worth up to £150. This site will also give you a £5 no deposit casino bonus just for signing up. The site appears to offer other bonuses and promotions, but because entire sections of Casino 440 simply don’t work, there’s no means of determining what these are.
Type | Amount | Match | Playthrough | Claim |
---|---|---|---|---|
No Deposit | ï¿¡5 | N/A | 65x | Claim Bonus |
First Deposit | ï¿¡150 | 200% | 35x | Claim Bonus |
Should you need to speak to an operator, Casino 440 provides a means of options. There’s no guarantee they will resemble the photogenic couple pictured on the homepage of the site however. They may be wearing a headset, but the similarities will almost certainly end there.
Casino 440 claims to offer 24-hour support in a number of languages. Choose from email, live chat or telephone support. There’s also an online contact submission form. Just to confuse matters, Casino 440 has 4 FAQs: a regular FAQ, FAQ Casino, Deposit & Withdrawal FAQ and Help FAQs.
Funds can be paid into your Casino 440 account by bank transfer using the likes of Skrill or Neteller. The minimum deposit amount is €10. Credit and debit cards are also supported. There may be other payment options available, but as with everything Casino 440 does, this information is obfuscated. Withdrawals can be made via the same method and identification documents may be required.
Without further ado, let’s move on to the games to be found at Casino 440. Every other part of the site is such a mess, but let’s see if the games – the most important facet of any online casino – withstand scrutiny. Head to the video poker section and you’ll be presented with more pidgin English that doesn’t make much sense or shed any light on the matter. Single hand and multi-hand poker games are supposedly available, but click on either option and the page remains blank. Oh well, perhaps the slots will work better…
The good news is that the slots actually load. Casino 440 have divided their video slots into 3-reel, 5-reel, 3D and multiplayer options. Don’t expect to find the latest and greatest games from leading developers here, but there are some pretty fun games nonetheless, even if they are of the retro variety. Have a go at the likes of Badminton Champion, Orange Park, Hottest Bachelor, After Dinner and Anubis.
The 3D and Multiplayer tabs pull up no results incidentally. As always, this may be down to site malfunction or simply because Casino 440 don’t have any games in these categories.
The latest games to be promoted in Casino 440 currently number just 3 – Shoot Out, Circus Wagon and Lost in Africa. Play for fun, play for money or don’t play at all – it’s your call. The recommended games section again has a trifecta of titles: Metal War, Lover Machine and US Roulette.
If you’re a fan of blackjack, you’re in luck – sort of. The good news is you can play blackjack at Casino 440. The bad news is there’s only one blackjack game available. There’s also one baccarat game available. Roulette players, however, are spoilt for choice with a whopping two titles to choose from: EU Roulette and US Roulette.
The site fares somewhat better when it comes to scratch games. Choose from 4 possible titles: Sic Bo, Lucky Knot Roulette, Belangkai and Fish Prawn Crab.
Casino 440 also has a category devoted to other games. As always, some of these load and some don’t. The site doesn’t appear to currently host any bingo games, despite its claims to the contrary. There’s also a Virtual Derby horse racing game, which doesn’t appear to load either. It’s presumably the same story with Keno, Hi Lo and Red Dog.
Casino 440 is a genuinely baffling site. It’s baffling in that its operators presumably created it to make money but every last element of the site appears to have been designed to minimise profits and to steer potential customers elsewhere.
Click on any link on the homepage and there’s a 50% chance it will work. This hit or miss approach isn’t going to impress players who have rightly come to expect more from their online casino.
In an internet awash with virtual casinos, there really is no possible excuse to get involved with Casino 440 other than perhaps morbid curiosity or a masochistic streak. There are probably worse sites out there, but there won’t be many you’ll encounter in your travels. It’s a poor show from a site that is surely capable of much better.
